ABOUT THE SHOW

Opera Fayetteville presents Dark Sisters, a musical exploration of one woman’s dangerous attempt to escape her life in the Fundamentalist Mormon (FLDS) church.

Nico Muhly and Stephen Karam’s daring chamber opera tells the story of Eliza who—following a raid on the compound where she lives—finds herself grappling with issues of faith, family, and personal identity as well as the impact of these doubts on her relationships with her daughter and sister-wives—the only family she has ever known. The lyrical score is inspired by hymns, folksong, and the landscape of the American West.

Starring mezzo-soprano Margaret Newcomb and conducted by Cris Frisco with stage direction by Andreas Hager.

New! Student Rush Policy: Student rush tickets will be available at the Walton Arts Center Box Office for $15 beginning one hour before each performance, in person sales only.
